You take interest in archaeology? Travel back in time with the Chek8timi app and discover the Chicoutimi Trading Post heritage site (Quebec, Canada) as it was in ancient times. An easy-to-use interactive map takes you through the historic sites of the Chicoutimi Trading Post as you stroll around a city park.

Developed as part of the “Chek8timi, until the water is deep” exhibition, this smart-app helps you understand the workings of this genuine hub of the fur trade era.

A touch of history:

From the 17th to the 19th Centuries, this meeting place was a genuine hub of the fur trade era. For First-Nation peoples travelling to the site in summer, it was a layover and gathering site due to its favourable geographic setting. Groups from the northern regions and those living near the St. Lawrence River used the Saguenay and Chicoutimi Rivers to access to this place of cultural exchanges and trade.
